At its core, Gilmore Girls has always been a series about the relationship and love between a mother and daughter, Lorelai and Rory Gilmore. Over the course of seven seasons on The WB and The CW, as well as a mini-series revival on Netflix, Gilmore Girls explored the ups and downs of this relationship as it grew and changed over time, and as Rory developed into an adult and made her own share of mistakes that Lorelai never wanted her to make.

Yet as much as the series focused on this central relationship, it also often veered off into different directions, especially when the romance department was concerned. As a teenager and eventual young adult, Rory had her fair share of romantic relationships — most of which are, in retrospect, fairly troubling if not outright insulting. Making matters worse, however, was the departure of series creators and writers Amy Sherman Palladino and Daniel Palladino.

Without their signature brand of wit behind the wheel, the series quickly lost its footing — and, in the process, the relationship between Lorelai and Luke took a real turn for the unfathomable.

when do luke and lorelai get back together

Lorelai : I was just trying to remember the first time we met. It must have been at Luke’s, right? Luke : It was at Luke’s, it was at lunch, it was a very busy day.

What does someone need to do in the non-fictional world when they finally are We’ll also discuss Lorelai and her big “I think I’m dating Luke” reaction. So we’ll share our advice for someone who has just started dating their “What If” person.

Luke and Lorelai have always been a fan-favorite couple , and we’ve fallen even more in love with their romance thanks to Netflix’s Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. While the revival left us with a lot of mixed emotions over those final four words , the pair’s relationship is certainly one of the biggest payoffs. Sure, they have their fair share of ups and downs, but they eventually find their way back to each other like the true soul mates they are.

Get the rundown on everything that happens here. Let’s just say, seeing domestic Luke and Lorelai made us super excited. After so much back and forth in the original series, the two are finally happy and settled in a serious relationship. While Lorelai’s mother, Emily, doesn’t like the idea of them playing “roommates,” we learn that they have been together for almost nine years. Even though Luke and Lorelai aren’t officially married, they are considering starting a family, or at least, Lorelai is.

They visit Paris Gellar’s fertility clinic to look at possible surrogate options, but Luke decides he doesn’t want to have more children. Things get even more complicated when the two start keeping secrets from each other. Lorelai lies to him about attending therapy solo, and Luke doesn’t tell her about going to look at possible diner locations with Emily. As the two start to think more about their relationship, they realize they’ve been living separate lives. Lorelai decides to go on a Wild -like hike and do some soul-searching for a few weeks.

Even though she never actually goes hiking, she does have an epiphany about her love life and heads back to Stars Hollow.

Eventually, after Lorelai’s divorce from Christopher, they have a discussion about their relationship in the maze made of hay during the Stars Hollow spring break festival and both apologize for their mistakes. The wedding date is postponed until Lorelai reunites with Rory. He accepts instantly and they begin expanding and renovating Lorelai’s two-story home. Lorelai respects his wishes until he requests her aid in planning April’s party.

He later asks her for a character reference in order for him to win a custody battle with Anna over April.

Storytelling and plot device aside, why do you think she didn’t date Luke sooner? I think Lorelai didn’t go for guys because she was scared and used Rory’s vibes, and it’s one I love to rewatch as the leaves start falling off trees in autumn.
